Survival Guide – One to One
Indie rock/electronic outfit Survival Guide, nom de plume of Emily Whitehurst, have released a brand new video for “One to One”, off her latest album Way To Go – released last year via Side With Us Records. The song is deep and haunting, and the music video’s aesthetic match it perfectly.
The lyrics describe the way there are two sides to every relationship. As a twist, we (Jim Agius and Tim Rose of Dogfilm and I) decided to make the video show how there may be a side of the relationship that’s hidden. Our main goal was to make the viewer feel creeped out by leaving my character in the dark. It reminds me of an old “don’t open that door!” type film. Funnily enough, I actually did feel a little creeped out seeing that roomful of photos — Jim found every one of those photos of me online. I helped cut & tape them up (which took lots of hours), then when I stood back to see the result, it was pretty overwhelming! – Emily Whitehurst
