Chris Cauley – My Turn

After hearing this album, I bet Adam Levine is kicking himself right now for letting Chris Cauley go home when he was on The Voice (although Tony Lucca did put up quite a fight).

But I’m sure he is also very proud to hear that his coaching did not go unheard. It’s no surprise that Chris made it into the battle rounds on the show because his voice is amazing. It was thanks to the show that I fell in love with his voice and immediately liked his Facebook page to keep up with what was going on in his career. When he announced that he was starting a Kickstarter for his new album I was the first person to become a backer and began promoting it as much as I possibly could. When the album entitled My Turn arrived at my door before its release date I was very excited.

It’s soooo good! Chris’s vocals on “Barely Hanging On” combined with Matt Cusson‘s piano performance is so beautiful and elegant that it gives me chills. I can’t help but close my eyes and get lost inside my head to the sweet sounds. His voice is flawless and his falsettos are mindblowingly pleasing. A nice surprise on the album is a cover of INXS’ “Need You Tonight”, which took me a moment to recognize due to his twist on the track.

The only thing that disappoints me about this album is that it only has 5 songs. I could listen to Chris sing for hours and never get sick of his voice. When/if he does a Kickstarter for a full length album you know damn well that I will be one of the first people to back it.
