Honour Crest – Spilled Ink

image

New to the Rise Records roster, we have Honour Crest with their label debut full-length, Spilled Ink. I had never heard of this band before my first listen, and some internet snooping didn’t turn up too much information, but that will probably change soon, especially with their current tour with We Butter the Bread With Butter.

These five Virginia boys bring upon a heavy variety of electronic hardcore that one would expect to be on Rise Records. The programming aspect of the band makes me think of The Algorithm in terms of style, but with a full band providing the instrumental portions of it. I even found myself looking for a link between them and the UK producer to see if there was any collaboration between the two on the album, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

All in all, it’s a pretty decent album if you dig electronic beatdown metalcore. To put it simply, this is what Sky Eats Airplane would sound like if they had started nowadays, so if you dig them then this is right up your alley.
